GET is helping our community GET a breath of fresh air with its compressed natural gas (CNG) fleet of buses. The entire GET fleet now operates on CNG. Driving a natural gas bus instead of a diesel bus is equal to eliminating smog and soot from 17 to 33 passenger cars, according to the coalition for clean air. Diesel engines produce nearly 20 percent of the total nitrogen oxides in outdoor air and are a major contributor to ozone production and smog. Each CNG bus carries 24,000 standard cubic feet of compressed natural gas. Natural gas is also safer as it does not ignite as easily as gas or diesel.
