Two East High school students place in Book Cover Competition
In May, GET introduced a contest for teens who were interested in designing a book cover that promoted the GET bus as the “green” option for transportation.
The following students were awarded placements for their designs: First: Erick Rodriguez, East High School; second: Sean Guerra, East High School; Third Nectali Castellanos, Golden Valley High School; First place won $500; second won $250, third won $100.
GET will use the first place design to print book covers which will be distributed throughout high schools in the Bakersfield. “Teens are very aware of the issues related to climate change and the air quality issues in our community,” said Gina Hayden, Marketing and Business Development Manager for Golden Empire Transit District. “We want to increase awareness of public transportation as an option teens can use to make a difference for our environment.”
