GET BOARD OF DIRECTORS APPROVES SERVICE CHANGES FOR JANUARY 2006

The following list of service changes was approved by the GET Board of Directors on September 6, 2005. The changes will go into effect in January. GET would like to thank the many customers who made suggestions and comments during the past months. Your participation helped shape this plan for improvements.

Route 2

• Revise southern loop to simplify, making one direction, keeping Rexland Acres Park. Route would travel south on Monitor to Panama, east on Panama, and north on South Union.
• Eliminate the last two of the three deviations to BARC on weekday mornings (the 7:37 deviation would continue).

Route 4

• Eliminate Route 4 service on the Acacia Loop in order to improve schedule adherence.

Route 5

• Change headways to 20-minutes on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Route 7

• Add service to Silver Creek area.
• Alternate west end service, serving Stockdale High School on one trip and serving Silver Creek on the next trip. Service to both areas will be hourly.
• Eliminate service through Campus Park, providing two-way service along that portion of White Lane.
• Add one bus to Route 7 to maintain hourly weekend service to the Stockdale High school area AND Silver Creek area.
• On central portion of the route, move service from Lotus Lane to Cottonwood.

Route 9

• Change turnaround at the Bakersfield Adult School on Mt. Vernon, eliminating need to turn buses around on cul-de-sac which is very difficult with the 40-ft. buses.
• Add 30 minutes travel time to west end on weekdays. Requires one additional bus Monday through Friday.
• Shorten east end on Sundays only, turning bus back at Virginia and Oswell, instead of traveling all the way to Foothill.

Routes 10 and 15

• Make these two single-bus routes into one larger route using three buses. Would maintain 40-minute headways, but would be more reliable service. (Monday through Friday only; weekend service would stay the same as current schedule).

Route 12

• Change schedule to 45 minute headways all day, not just after 9:15 a.m. as it currently exists.

Route 15
