GET – Names Chair and Vice Chair to Board of Directors 2022
Bakersfield, CA — The Golden Empire Transit District (GET) announced today that Cindy Parra will continue as the Board of Directors’ Chair for Golden Empire Transit along with Erika Dixon as the Vice Chair. Both Parra and Dixon bring a wealth of knowledge to help bring public transportation into the future.
Cindy Parra – Chairman of the Board, Golden Empire Transit
Director Parra was born and raised in Bakersfield. As a teen she moved to San Jose. She returned to Bakersfield in the mid-80s to work for SmithtechUSA, Inc. where she has worked as a Project Manager for more than 20 years. Currently she is employed as a Project Manager for QK Inc. Director Parra was a founding member of Bike Bakersfield in 2005. She currently serves on the Bike Bakersfield Board of Directors and the Board of the California Bicycle Coalition and Kern Council of Governments Board as a GET representative and is chair of the Kern Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Coalition. Cindy’s experience brings a clear understanding of public transit, where it needs to go, and how to increase ridership.
Erika Dixon – Vice Chairman of the Board, Golden Empire Transit
Director Dixon has lived in Bakersfield for 32 years and is currently the VP of Development for The Bakersfield ARC. Erika served as coordinator for VOICED for 10 years. In this position she advocated on behalf of all organizations that serve individuals with disabilities, which led to working with GET on improving access to bus stops. Through her work with VOICED she was instrumental in bringing Smart 911 to Kern County. Erika’s passion for improving access to those with disabilities will be a great asset to the GET Board of Directors.
