This privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) discloses the practices of GETbus, GET-A-Lift, On-Demand and GET NEMT, operated by Golden Empire Transit District (“GET”, “we”, or “us”), concerning information we obtain by and through your use of the GETbus website (https://getbus.org) and On-Demand mobile app (the “App”), and through other interactions and communications you have with us (collectively, the “Services”). This Privacy Policy applies to the Services and becomes effective as soon as you access or use the Sites or the Application. This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which this site collects, uses, maintains, and discloses information collected from Users (each, a “User”).
Personal identification information
We may collect personal identification information from Users in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, when Users visit our site, register on the site, respond to a survey, fill out a form, download and use our app, and in connection with other activities, services, features, or resources we make available on our site. Users may be asked for, as appropriate, name, phone number, and/or email address. We will collect personal identification information from Users only if they voluntarily submit such information to us. Users may visit our site anonymously and can always refuse to supply personally identification information, with the understanding that it may prevent them from engaging in certain site related activities.
Non-personal identification information
We may collect non-personal identification information about Users whenever they interact with our site. Non-personal identification information may include the browser name, the type of computer, and technical information about Users’ means of connection to our site, such as the operating system and the Internet service provider utilized and other similar information.
The On-Demand App
Golden Empire Transit does not collect or store personal information from customers downloading, installing or using the App on Apple or Android smartphone or mobile devices. However, personal information is collected when customers use the App to register for an On-Demand account. Customers who want to provide feedback in the App have the option to provide contact information if they would like a reply. Payment information is collected when customers sign up to make ticket purchases in the App.
Web browser cookies
Our site may use “cookies” to enhance User experience. Users’ web browsers place cookies on their computers for record-keeping purposes and sometimes to track information about them. Users may choose to set their web browser to refuse cookies or to alert them when cookies are being sent. If they do so, note that some parts of the site may not function properly.
Google Analytics
We use a tool called “Google Analytics” to collect information about use of this site. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit this site, what pages they visit when they do so, and what other sites they used prior to coming to this site. We use the information we get from Google Analytics only to improve this site. Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit this site, rather than your name or other identifying information. We do not combine the information collected through the use of Google Analytics with personally identifiable information. Although Google Analytics plants a permanent cookie on your web browser to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit this site, the cookie cannot be used by anyone but Google. Notifications
On-Demand will send messages in the form of mobile notifications, SMS messages or promotional content though the App. The App may use location information to display notifications or promotional content. To manage notifications for the Application, go to the notifications area in the settings for your device and select On-Demand.
Social Sharing Features
The Site or App may integrate with social sharing features and other related tools which let you share actions you take using the Services with other applications, websites, media, and vice versa. Your use of such features enables the sharing of information with your friends or the public, depending on the settings you establish with the social sharing service. Please refer to the privacy policies of those social sharing services for more information about how they handle the data you provide to or share through them.

We have the discretion to update this privacy policy at any time. When we do, we will revise the updated date at the top of this page.
