Golden Empire Transit names Transit as its Official App

Bakersfield, CA — The Golden Empire Transit District (GET) today announces Transit as the official mobility app for Bakersfield’s GET Bus fixed routes. Transit handles millions of active users in more than 200 cities worldwide.

When using the Transit App, Golden Empire Transit fixed bus route riders will see nearby options and departure times in easy to understand language. With big text and bright colors GET users can easily navigate Bakersfield, with real time Bus ETAs, trip planning, and step-by-step navigation.

The partnership with Transit and GET offers a comprehensive, easy-to-use app for riders to navigate the Bakersfield area. With the agreement GET will receive data and customizations to better serve the public, such as the ability to send important updated information directly to riders via the Transit’s home screen.

“Our riders can expect – easy trip planning and real time bus tracking all in a single app,” said Karen King, GET CEO. “Partnering with a single app easily makes it clear to riders where they can go for information to plan their ride.”

Golden Empire Transit is excited to work with Transit making it easier for riders to use public transit as part of their daily routine.

Go to the APP Store or Google Play and download the Transit App to start planning your ride.

GET was formed in July 1973 and is the primary public transportation provider for the Bakersfield Urbanized Area. It is the largest public transit system within a 110-mile radius. The District’s legal boundary includes Bakersfield city limits as well as adjacent unincorporated areas. GET has a fleet of 88 compressed natural gas buses equipped with wheelchair lifts and bike racks. GET serves 16 routes, operating 7 days a week and transporting more than 6 million passengers each year with its fixed-route buses. In addition, GET operates 25 compressed natural gas GET-A-Lift buses and 7 microtransit RYDE shuttles. For more information, visit www.getbus.org or call 869.2GET (2438
