Customer Service Representative (Part-Time)

Pay Type Hourly: $16-26 an hour. Maximum entry level pay is $16-20 an hour.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Answering customer questions regarding routes and schedules by telephone and in person at the Downtown Transit Center
  • Assist On Demand Customers with trip reservations, trip planning, and customer comments
  • Receiving and writing customer comments
  • Perform miscellaneous clerical duties
  • Be available to work varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays, seven days a week


Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of the Bakersfield area
  • Ability to effectively meet and converse with the public
  • Ability to perform computer data entry and make accurate mathematical calculations
  • Possess good telephone manners
  • One year of clerical and cash handling experience is desirable
  • Previous customer service experience and ability to speak Spanish is preferred
  • Possess a valid California drivers’ license and driving record acceptable to the District’s insurance underwriter is preferred
  • Proof of current COVID-19 vaccination required at time of hire


Pre-placement physical and drug screen required. The successful candidate will also be required to undergo a Department of Justice background investigation.
