GET is currently seeking a Facility Supervisor to join our team!
Under general direction, the Facility Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the District’s maintenance needs and providing technical assistance. The incumbent in this role supervises personnel tasked with the repair, service, cleaning and maintenance of the District’s buildings, grounds, and street furniture. The Facility Supervisor ensures cleanliness and safety of all the District’s facilities and bus stops, work quality, and adherence to the District’s policies and procedures.
What you will do:
- Plans, organizes, schedules, assigns, supervises, trains, reviews, and evaluates the work of assigned Maintenance staff, including janitorial tasks, building repairs, preventive maintenance, plumbing, and electrical system repairs.
- Provides ongoing guidance to assigned Maintenance staff, counsels, disciplines, and reports work quality issues to the Director of Maintenance.
- Oversees and coordinates work performed by outside contractors, including construction projects, facility services, and other special projects.
- Prepares cost estimates and solicits bids for facility services or equipment needs.
- Assists the Director of Maintenance with the preparation of and adherence to the Maintenance Department’s budget by submitting budget recommendations, monitoring expenditures, preparing cost estimates and soliciting bids for facility services or equipment and submitting justifications for equipment.
- Manages facility inventory and orders supplies as business needs require to support the repair and maintenance activities performed by Maintenance staff.
- Maintains facilities, bus stops, and other assigned District property up to par with applicable regulations and standards by conducting routine inspections to ensure District property is in a clean and safe condition.
- Performs maintenance and repair work to ensure safe and efficient operations of District equipment, including but not limited to, the bus wash, vehicle lifts, and floor jacks.
- Ensures the proper storage and disposal of the District’s hazardous waste and maintains proper records for State and Federal reporting.
- Provides emergency response support during off hours or as needed to resolve facility issues brought to the incumbents attention through the emergency phone, email, or other modes of communication.
- Operates computer, facility management software, spreadsheet, word processing, and database applications to issue work orders, and prepare administrative and technical documents or reports, ensuring completeness and accuracy of all information.
- Reads and interprets vendor parts catalogs pertaining to facility equipment, construction drawings, plans and specifications, and other pertinent documents to ensure the proper facilitation of work orders and Maintenance projects.
- Investigates complaints and takes corrective action to resolve Maintenace related issues, directing subordinate staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
How you will shine:
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in facility maintenance or any combination of training, education, and experience in the field.
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience is preferred.
- Demonstrates ability to train, direct, and supervise subordinates and an ability establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Leads by example and promotes adherence to quality and safety standards and applicable regulations and policies.
- Knowledge of SDS, OSHA, CalOSHA, HAzCom, and waste management practices.
- Knowledge of preventative and repair maintenance methods, including knowledge in carpentry, plumbing, glass replacement, painting, masonry, grounds keeping, appliance repair, and electrical wiring.
- Possesses strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to obtain certificate to operate forklift.
- A valid California Driver’s License with a driving record acceptable to the District’s insurance underwriter.
