Human Resources Assistant

$31,200 – $52,000 – Annual Salary Range

Hourly Pay Range:  $15.00 – $25.00

(Maximum entry-level salary is $21.00 per hour)

GET is currently seeking a Human Resources Assistant to join our team!

Under moderate supervision, the Human Resources Assistant provides the Human Resources Department assistance with a broad range of clerical and administrative duties ranging from average to moderate difficulty. The incumbent in this position is responsible for providing support in the areas of talent acquisition, on-boarding and retention, staff training and talent development, DEI, employee and labor relations, FTA and DOT regulatory compliance, COVID 19 policy administration, OSHA and other safety-related injury and illness prevention programs, leaves of absence and Workers’ Compensation administration, benefits, classification, compensation, and other segments of the Human Resources function.

What you will do:

  • Accurately and promptly prepares and processes various Human Resource documents and reports related to various Human Resources operational functions.
  • Assists internal and external customers, including management, with inquiries regarding the District’s programs, practices, procedures, and processes.
  • Provides friendly customer service in receiving visitors and resolves HR related inquiries received via e-mail, by telephone, at job fairs, and various District and community events.
  • Receives and assists visitors to the Human Resource Department, including routes inquiries to the appropriate Human Resources Department personnel.
  • Schedules appointments and prepares, edits, assembles, and distributes miscellaneous correspondences, documents, reports, and other materials related to various Human Resource functions.
  • Assists with employee talent development and training requirements, including DEI programs and activities.
  • Provides administrative support in the recruitment and selection process by preparing materials, setting up conference rooms and facilities for testing, and utilizing the automated applicant tracking system to send notifications to candidates, update candidate information, prepare pre-employment packets, schedule and facilitate the new hire/onboarding process, and other recruitment tasks.
  • Assists in the implementation of various Human Resources training programs and initiatives, including State and Federal training mandates.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

How you will shine:

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent (Associates Degree or 60 college-level units in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources Administration or directly related field is preferred).
  • One (1) to three (3) years of responsible clerical and/or administrative office support required, supplemented by experience, training and/or certification in the legal field or workers’ compensation is desirable.
  • A valid California Driver’s License with a driving record acceptable to the District’s insurance underwriter.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and composure at all times, in person and over the phone, including in stressful situations and when handling employee-related disputes and complaints.
  • Ability to learn, interpret, explain, and apply the District’s programs, policies and procedures related to the Human Resources Operations.
  • Demonstrates strict confidentiality with matters concerning employees or the District, including sensitive matters requiring discretion.
  • Exercises excellent organizational, communication, and writing skills in preparing and maintaining accurate reports, records, memoranda, forms, and other correspondences.
  • Illustrates attention to detail in matters requiring accuracy and completeness, including reports and correspondences concerning reconciliation of figures.
  • Demonstrates exceptional communication and interpersonal skills in speaking with employees, supervisors, clients, visitors, vendors, or the general public.
