Mechanic D
$29.30/Hour
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Repair and maintain CNG and gasoline powered buses and other transportation equipment
- Steam clean equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance
- Assist in the repair of equipment
- Mount and dismount tires
- Adjust brakes
- Install batteries, tires, and wiring
- Grease and service equipment
- Change oil and oil filters
- Service and perform simple heavy duty work
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED- Graduation from a vocational technical college is preferred
- Valid Class C driver’s license with driving record acceptable to District’s insurance underwriter
- Reading, math, and written language skills to perform essential functions of the job
- Possess a valid California Driver’s License with driving record acceptable to District’s insurance underwriter, along with three (3) years of driving experience
Knowledge of:
- Principles of internal combustion engines
- Methods, tools, equipment, and materials used in the repair and maintenance of motorized equipment
- Safe driving practices
- Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate maintenance work
- The use of shop equipment and tools to make necessary repairs
Must have the Ability to Obtain and Maintain:
- Class B driver’s license
- TIA Tire Certification
- CNG Tank Certification
- ASE H-4 Transit Bus Air Brake Certification
- ASE H-8 Preventative Maintenance and Inspection Certification
- Type II Refrigeration License
- Forklift Operators Permit
Pre-placement physical and drug screen required. The successful candidate will also be required to undergo a Department of Justice background investigation. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination preferred at time of hire.
