GET is currently seeking a Transportation Supervisor to join our team!

Under general supervision, the Transportation Supervisor oversees the day to day of the transportation operations and personnel, which includes Golden Empire Transit District’s fixed-route and on-demand services. The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for facilitating excellent customer service by ensuring all buses and vehicles are operating according to schedule and safety standards, while keeping compliance with state, federal, and local regulations and bargaining unit agreements.

What you will do:

  • Proactively coordinates and maintains personnel schedules in accordance with fixed-route and On-Demand reservations.
  • Promptly adjusts transit routes and staffing schedules in response to traffic conditions, absent or ill drivers, and other disruptions.
  • Monitors and supervises assigned staff on an on-going basis to facilitate compliance with state and federal laws, including safety standards and the District’s rules and regulations.
  • Verifies that bus and vehicle drivers are ready and prepared for duty, briefed on road conditions and routes, adequately trained and equipped, and are held accountable for duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Complies with safety and service standards by reviewing driver pre-trip logs to ensure bus and vehicles are functioning properly and recommends vehicle and equipment repairs accordingly.
  • Develops staff by establishing personnel goals and objectives and assists staff in understanding performance expectations, providing leadership and encouraging professionalism.
  • Operates bus and vehicles in emergency situations.
  • Prepares, reviews and compiles operating and incident reports and program statistics; assures that all records for inspections, training, and safety are properly maintained.
  • Reports unsafe acts, accidents and injuries.
  • Investigates schedule and route deficiency reports and recommends changes in transit schedules accordingly.
  • Prepare daily “Plan of the Day” (POD) reports for the Operations Superintendent to establish daily goals and document break downs, accidents, safety issues, and customer service incidents.
  • Lead by example, providing guidance and information to assigned staff in relation to the District’s employment policies and practices to ensure an equitable, inclusive, and discrimination free workplace.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

How you will shine:

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent and five (5) years of transit-related experience.
  • One (1) to two (2) years of lead and/or supervisory experience preferred.
  • A valid Class A/B Commercial California Driver’s License with a driving record acceptable to the District’s insurance underwriter.
  • Possess a Certificate of Transit Training (Certificate of Driving Skill). (DL170)
  • Possess a Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
  • Demonstrates transit operations knowledge by keeping abreast driving best practices and the District’s routes and schedules.
  • Exercises leadership and driving skills in order train staff on transit practices and procedures.
  • Ability to drive bus and vehicles in emergency situations.

  • Pay Type Salaried: $58,240-$79,040 – NOTE:  Maximum entry level salary is $68,640 annually.
