Kern Transit Passes available at GET Downtown Transit Center
Bakersfield, CA — The Golden Empire Transit District (GET) announced the sale of Kern Transit 31-day passes for Local and All Route buses including the Reduced Pass are all now available at the Downtown GET Bus Terminal on Chester Avenue.
Kern Transit 31-Day Fare Pass for Local Routes plus Dial-a-Ride is $45.00 with the reduced pass at $22.50, for All Routes plus Dial-A-Ride is $65.00 with the reduced pass at $32.50. Reduced Fare Passes good for Seniors 62 years old or older, disabled and Youth K-12th grade. Kern Transit provides passenger bus service between and in the rural communities of Kern County. Applications for the reduced fare bus pass are available in person at the Kern Transit Office, located at, 2700 M Street or on the website, www.kerntransit.org.
There are 17 fixed transit routes, and Dial-A-Ride (DAR) service is available in most communities. The transit system offers intercity service between Arvin, Bakersfield, Bodfish, Boron, Buttonwillow, California City, Delano, Edwards, Frazier Park, Inyokern, Keene, Kernville, Lake Isabella, Lamont, Lebec, Lost Hills, McFarland, Mojave, Onyx, Ridgecrest, Rosamond, Shafter, Taft, Tehachapi, Wasco, Weldon, and Wofford Heights, along with local transit service. Connections to Metrolink in Lancaster are also available. Kern Transit is a division of the Kern County Roads Department.
GET was formed in July 1973 and is the primary public transportation provider for the Bakersfield Urbanized Area. It is the largest public transit system within a 110-mile radius. The District’s legal boundary includes Bakersfield city limits as well as adjacent unincorporated areas. GET has a fleet of 88 compressed natural gas buses equipped with wheelchair lifts and bike racks. GET serves 16 routes, operating 7 days a week and transporting more than 6 million passengers each year with its fixed-route buses.
