Golden Empire Transit Extending FREE Rides for Students
Through Summer 2023
Bakersfield, CA —Golden Empire Transit District (GET) will extend FREE rides for all Bakersfield students Kindergarten through College including vocational schools and private high schools that currently have passes from the Spring Semester. Golden Empire Transit received a grant to provide the FREE bus rides to Bakersfield area students starting January 2023 – through Summer 2023. The Free passes are good for GET Bus Fixed route buses and On-Demand Paratransit only. On-Demand Microtransit is not included in the FREE rides. Students that have a Spring 2023 pass should keep it. This pass will be good through the summer months. All students 7th grade and older must show their student ID on the bus to the driver when presenting the pass. The pass will not swipe through the fare box but must be shown to the driver.If you have lost your pass, to obtain a new one you can present your student ID at the GET Administration Office, 1830 Golden State Avenue or the Downtown Transit Station on Chester Avenue to receive a replacement.
