On-Demand Assist to Take over CTSA's Service
On Demand Assist will operate as a low-cost subsidized transportation program for Seniors over 60 and Disabled individuals. Medically disabled individuals that qualify for GET On-Demand Paratransit service should be directed to that service.
Services are provided 7 AM to 7 PM, 7 days a week. Transportation is provided for doctor appointments, senior activities, grocery shopping, and other essential trips. Users do not need to medically qualify as they do with Paratransit, however they do need to apply to use the service. Applications must be on file before trips can be reserved. If a rider has not applied, and they are in the zone, they will be directed to On-Demand Microtransit. If they are outside the On-Demand Microtransit zone, other suggestions will be considered.
Appointments can be made up to 14 days in advance. Same-day rides may be available depending on availability. Appointments can be made between 8 AM and 5 PM (M-F). Reservations must be made with an agent and confirmed while on the phone. A cancellation line is answered from 6 AM to 10 PM and messages can be left to cancel appointments 24 hours a day. Anticipated to be launched in October 2022, a smartphone app may be used to make or cancel reservations and to manage upcoming rides.
GET On-Demand Assist will not operate on Thanksgiving or Christmas Day and will have Holiday operating hours on New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day. In addition, some operations may be limited or changed on certain days as needed. Calls can be made to the customer service number at 661-869-2438 for more information.
Drivers cannot assist with packages or carry-ons. Packages are limited to what a rider can carry in two trips. Except for service or guide dogs, pets are only allowed on the bus if they are placed and kept in an enclosed animal carrier.
The On-Demand Assist service area is defined as the same area currently serviced by GET's On-Demand Paratransit service, with a few additions to outlier areas. Please see the map below for current idea of service boundaries.
On-Demand Assist is defined as a reduced-fare Senior service. ALL current CTSA riders will qualify for the low-income fare for six months (Until January 2023). Current CTSA ridership will need to re-qualify for reduced-level fares within the first six months of service.
