GET Receives New Flyer Zero-Emissions Electric Demonstration Bus

Tuesday, August 1, Golden Empire Transit (GET) will be receiving a New Flyer 40 foot, heavy duty, zero-emissions electric demonstration bus to try out. New Flyer has 40 years and over 100 million miles of experience with electric population including trolley, hybrid and fuel-cell buses.

“Golden Empire Transit has been moving towards environmental sustainability through cleaner vehicles. We are working internally to innovate and offer next generation vehicles that move people quietly and cleanly while helping meet our climate goals,” said Executive Chief Officer Karen King.

With transportation representing nearly half of all greenhouse gas emissions in the Kern County region, GET aims to demonstrate its commitment to exceptional customer service, environmental promise, and technological innovation, by committing to replace its current fleet with zero-emission vehicles. Please come take a ride with us on Tuesday, August 1st on Route 42 from Westchester to Panama Walmart from 6:28am-12pm for Free.

Golden Empire Transit District (GET) was formed in 1973 and serves the Bakersfield Metropolitan area which is 160 square miles. GET has a fleet of 88 compressed natural gas buses equipped with wheelchair lifts and bike racks. GET services 16 routes, which operate 7 days a week and transport more than 6 million passengers each year with its fixed route buses. In addition, GET operates 19 compressed natural gas GET-A-Lift buses.
