Golden Empire Transit Welcome New Board
Bakersfield, CA — Golden Empire Transit District (GET) is pleased to announce that Charlie Van De Voorde will be joining the GET Board of Directors as the County Representative. Joining us from Flood Ministries, Mr. Van De Voorde is the Program Manager of the Arvin Navigation Center and Flood’s Community and Engagement Manager. Mr. Van De Voorde will bring experience and knowledge to the GET Board. At Flood Ministries Charlie helps to provide permanent housing and supportive services to ensure housing stability for our community.
“Charlie will be an exceptional asset to the GET Board.” Said Karen King, CEO of Golden Empire Transit. “Charlie will help the District understand and address the unhoused issue in our community.”
Charlie is a native of Tehachapi, CA with a fiancé, Michelle, son Jay, 2 step-daughters and 4 grandchildren. Mr. Van De Voorde is a graduate of California State University, Bakersfield where he received a certificate for Drug and Alcohol Studies and is pursuing his Bachelor of Public Administration degree from National University. Charlie Stated “I am both honored and inspired to be of service to our Community and to help promote the growth of our local Public Transportation District.”
The Golden Empire Transit District (GET) was formed in July 1973 and is the primary public transportation provider for the Bakersfield Urbanized Area.
