GET Expands Weekday Service to Better Serve Riders
Bakersfield, CA — Golden Empire Transit District (GET) is expanding its weekday service to better meet the needs of passengers. Starting Monday, January 6, 2025, the following routes will offer more frequent and accessible service Monday through Friday:
ROUTE 22: Frequency will increase to every 15 minutes weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This route serves North Chester Avenue to California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB).
ROUTE 81: Frequency will increase to every 30 minutes weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This route serves Valley Plaza, Downtown Bakersfield, and Bakersfield College.
GET will also enhance late-night service on routes 41, 43, 44, 45, 61, and 62, providing more travel options for evening riders. CEO Chris James emphasized the importance of these changes, “We understand the important role GET plays in the lives of many community members, especially students and those working evening shifts. This expansion is a direct response to rider demand and reflects our commitment to improving transit options for all in the Bakersfield area.”

Founded in July 1973, the Golden Empire Transit District (GET) is the primary public transportation provider for the Bakersfield Urbanized Area and the largest transit system within a 110-mile radius. GET operates 15 routes seven days a week, with a fleet of 81 compressed natural gas buses (CNG), all equipped with wheelchair lifts and bike racks, providing 3.5 million trips annually. GET also operates 49 compressed natural gas GET-A-LIFT paratransit buses and 14 Hydrogen Fuel Cell buses.
