Golden Empire Transit District – Community Wants Full Service Returned
Bakersfield, CA – Golden Empire Transit District (GET) is cognizant of the community’s request for GET to return to pre-pandemic levels of service including evening service. GET would like to return to those former levels of service as well. Like many other businesses across the country GET is struggling to get staffing levels up to pre-pandemic service levels. We understand the need to return to full service but we do not have the appropriate staffing that would allow this to happen. GET has been offering on-the-spot interviews both in person and via ZOOM with little success. Now is the time to secure a good position before benefits run out. GET offers a competitive salary, good benefits, and the opportunity to build a lasting career.
GET is hiring bus drivers (will train), maintenance positions, and bus cleaners.
GET is looking for the best to work for the best. Every day thousands of Bakersfield residents depend on GET buses to take them to work, school, medical appointments, and many other destinations across the city. GET offers a stable career, great benefits, competitive wages, and an excellent training program for their employees. If you enjoy working with people and are seeking a great career opportunity GET is the place.
To apply online go to www.getbus.org/careers. Please attach a resume, must have high school diploma or GED, and bring DMV K4 printout. Minimum qualifications include the ability to obtain and maintain a valid Class B California driver’s license with passenger and air brake endorsements, driving record acceptable to District’s insurance underwriter, ability to obtain and maintain a current Medical Certificate. GET will provide onsite training for bus driver positions (please note bus cleaners do not need Class B License).
For more information about GET’s exciting career opportunities, call April Davison at 661-869-6354 or complete an application online at www.getbus.org/careers or pick up an application at 1830 Golden State Avenue, Bakersfield, CA.
GET was formed in July 1973 and is the primary public transportation provider for the Bakersfield Urbanized Area. It is the largest public transit system within a 110-mile radius. The District’s legal boundary includes Bakersfield city limits as well as adjacent unincorporated areas. GET has a fleet of 88 compressed natural gas buses equipped with wheelchair lifts and bike racks. GET serves 16 routes, operating 7 days a week and transporting more than 6 million passengers each year with its fixed-route buses. In addition, GET operates 25 compressed natural gas On-Demand Paratransit buses and 13 On-Demand micro-transit vehicles. For more information, visit www.getbus.org or call 869.2GET (2438)
